"Who am I? Well, I've been working in Softtek more than a year and it has been such a great experience working here. I came for a project to automate testing, later on I moved on to a project for a client in the Nuclear Energy Industry performing automated test using WinRunner tool, where I highly increase my skills to perform automated test. So far my experience with automation tools get summarized with SilkTest from Segue, Robot from Rational and WinRunner from Mercury, also some other tools like TestDirector, Rational ClearQuest and SilkPerformer for example.
Then, I worked for a client that develops CRM Software in a project testing CRM applications, but specifically in an internal project. Here, we worked with a Cognos third party tool (ReportNet) testing a Packaged Reports, validating that all specifications made by Design team were correctly implemented in the Reports and assuring that this didn't affect functionality or security. Data model was validated to assure the integrity.
Now I'm working at a project for a Leading Storage and Information Management Solutions Provider, a new challenge to be accomplished. We have different Suites of testing like Stress, Functionality, DataIntegrity, CrossFunctionality, etc. and these suites are executed either manually or automated but due to the quantity of test cases related to each suite automation is becoming a "must" and currently we are working to automate all our Test Cases for each Application as a process improvement to make more efficient our test.
In order to accomplish this task we are using Perl as programming language, Rational Clear Case as a repository of documents and Rational TestManager as a management tool to execute the scripts and keep track of our test execution. Why Perl? The business of our Client is a very critical business because it is related on how to store huge quantity of information and assure the data integrity, just imagine clients like some Federal Banks where information is critical at every single point.
What else can I tell you about me? Well that's pretty much I can tell you about my experience here at Softtek but any question you may have or have about any tool just ping me I will be glad to help you."

"These eight years of experience in Softtek has been gratifying. I started in Y2K projects and my initial years were in Mainframe platform. My first challenge was to work in Oracle Database giving me the opportunity to learn. I also built confidence working in directly with the customer.
My career in Testing begun with an Oracle project; continuing with a Testing WEB project for a Fortune 10 company. My current testing assignment involves a migration of Vitria versions. Vitria is an Enterprise Application Integration System EAI. This is a great challenge for me due to it involves different platforms (WEB, Mainframe, SQL Server, Vitria, Sybase). This represents a more complex way to do manual testing for all transactions going from one system and publishing into another system. Not only managing the complexity of the integration system but also managing a testing team remotely that is working onsite. I am currently working from Monterrey. I am also maintaining constant communication with the customer via telephone and conference calls. This is also helping me to improve my English confidence and communication skills. All this has represented a huge growth in my career path.
My reward is that Softtek is gaining more and more projects together with our partner (a big global consulting firm) due to are good performance in the testing project. This is causing the client to give us more applications like the current augmentation of the Mainframe team."

"Because I just have six months working at Softtek I would like to start writing about my previous experience, well I finished my major on Engineer in Communications and Electronics in the 2003 and I was lucky because I got a scholarship to study a six months course about Circuits Design in the CINVESTAV. When I finished this course I got an offer to work at IBM as a software tester, I didn't know too much about what was this job about, but I was looking forward to getting a job; that was my first experience as a tester and then I realize that I wanted to be a tester so I started getting courses and learning from the experience of other testers.
My role there was to create, execute and automate test cases for a web application with a Lotus Notes back end. The tool that I was using to automate was Rational XDE Tester. Also I was part of the Research and Development team, my role there was to help other teams to start automating their applications.
I started working at Softtek on November the 18th of 2004 and since then I have been working as a tester in the Treasury area of a Fortune 50 client being part of the Quality Assurance Team where we are 4 members. My role here is to create test cases, execute manual tests and automate our Regressions Test using Rational Robot. Our next step is to get more duties doing also Performance Test and Security Test, it seem that we are going to have a lot of work to do (more), and I'm happy for that."

"What can I tell you about me? Well, I been in Softtek more than 7 years now, I been working in projects from coast to coast in the United States, I have also spent some time in our GDC in Monterrey. How I started? I was a junior programmer when I got in Softtek, I was sent to the Power Systems Subsidiary of a Global Conglomerate to fix VB programs with Y2K issues, then after fixing a few applications I was creating test plans and test cases to test some other applications with Y2K issues.
I spent my next two years maintaining MS Access applications and creating test cases to make our fixes better, I got into the testing world learning how to use WinRunner and SilkTest. Then I got myself some books, and Softtek placed me with clients with testing needs, and like that I got full time in Software Quality Assurance (SQA). My first testing project was with a company that develops CRM Software where we developed our testing tools, doing testing while using our programmatic skills was nice experience, I found more bugs than anyone in an old project called "NAME REMOVED", then I was sent to a Softtek client that develops and markets Software for Treasury and Capital Markets business processes, to maintain an automated testing architecture, it was my encounter with WinRunner and some other Mercury tools, there I learn how to define an automated testing architecture and what not to do when automating the testing of an application.
On summer 2004 I participated in an evaluation done to Softtek and after a TestCheck proficiency test applied to me I found out that my knowledge on the SQA was higher than the 92% of the other professionals worldwide who have taken this assessment, this gave Softtek a lot of credibility on the matter and a new partnership was founded with our evaluators ACS.
My reward, was an on site position on Des Moines, Iowa where I was able to grow a lot of confidence for Softtek with a leading global financial institution in only a few months, using my experience and a good NearShore team to back me up. Now as a result of our performances, Softtek is getting more projects with this client."

"There's not much I can tell about my experience in Softtek since I've been here for less than a year. I started on a Softtek program called Testing Academy in Mexico City, at the end I received an offer to start as a tester, so I changed my residence from Mexico City to Monterrey. I was assigned to a testing project for a leading global financial institution.
Last year's fall I was assigned to a SOX testing project for the client in Des Moines, Iowa. The project ended successfully, I earned confidence from the people in the client, my leaders in Softtek, but the most important thing was the confidence that I won in my self. Now, I'm back in Des Moines with a new project and with the challenge of repeating what happened last year's fall. Sure it won't be easy but I know I can make it." |
