Softtek President and CEO Receives Business Excellence Award from Forbes Mexico

Blanca Treviño was honored for her career path in the IT industry worldwide

MONTERREY, Mexico – June 29, 2015 – Softtek, founder of the nearshore industry and leading global IT services provider dedicated to creating value through technology, announced today that its president and CEO, Blanca Treviño, was recognized by Forbes Mexico with the Business Excellence award: Powerful Women 2015. The executive was awarded during the Powerful Women 2015 Forum, which was organized by the magazine.

“Often times we women define power in a different way,” mentioned the CEO during the award ceremony. “When talk about power, it has to do more with transcending than with a hierarchy—with the ability to influence.” The executive also highlighted the fact that being a woman has never been a barrier in her professional career.

During the event, Mariano Menéndez, president of Forbes Mexico and Latin America, also recognized the work of the businesswoman as president and a founding member of Softtek, a company that has been key in positioning Mexico in the global IT services playing field, providing solutions to large global, regional and local organizations in more than 20 countries.

Aside from her prominence in the IT industry, Blanca is internationally recognized as a strong advocate of the IT services industry in emerging countries, which includes her work with various governments to define strategies that aim to increase Latin America’s participation in the IT market.

Trevino ranks at #6 on Forbes’ most powerful women in 2015. In 2014, she was awarded “Woman of the Year” by the National Foundation of the Woman of the Year. In 2012 Blanca was a member of the World Economic Forum's B20 Task Force on ICT and Innovation.  She was also recognized by Forbes’ “50 Most Powerful Women in Mexico,” the first woman inducted into the IAOP Outsourcing Hall of Fame and the first female on member on the Mexican Business Council.

Treviño is an active board member for Walmart Mexico, Goldcorp, ITESM and the U.S.-Mexico Foundation. Furthermore, Treviño is a frequent speaker in national and international forums related to entrepreneurialism, Information Technology and the role of women in business.
