Softtek Releases White Papers on Global Sourcing and Application Security at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2009

Two papers address approaches to creating balanced global sourcing delivery models and strategies for vulnerability detection

GARTNER SYMPOSIUM/ITxpo, Orlando, FL., October 20, 2009 – Softtek, a global provider of IT and business process solutions and the largest private IT service provider in Latin America, today released two white papers that address approaches to developing efficient global sourcing delivery models and effective application vulnerability detection strategies, at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo.

The two white papers, available for complimentary download at Softtek’s website, are:

  1. “Conservative-Progressive Approach to Outsourcing Delivery Models: Four levers to adjust and maximize value” and
  2. “Preparing a Strategy for Application Vulnerability Detection: Setting the basis to secure critical information assets.”

The first white paper is part of a three-part series titled “Proven Strategies for Cost-Containment and Risk-Balancing in Turbulent Times.” Part two, “Conservative-Progressive Approach to Outsourcing Delivery Models: Four levers to adjust and maximize value,” discusses different approaches to achieving efficient delivery models in a global sourcing program. The paper outlines four key components to a well-balanced global delivery model, which include: Combining pricing models (time-and-materials and fixed-price), balancing the onshore and offshore sourcing ratio, working with a select group of preferred vendors, and geographically diversifying operations. The report also cites experiences Softtek has had with various clients for each of the four tactics.

The second white paper, “Preparing a Strategy for Application Vulnerability Detection: Setting the basis to secure critical information assets,” discusses how to create an effective approach to protecting a company’s infrastructure from application threats. The report notes four key activities to designing an application risk identification process: Define the highest risk applications, determine the most suitable testing approach (depth vs. breadth, inside-out vs. outside-in), evaluate the most effective mix of scanning tools, and establish a basic set of verification requirements (coverage, rigor, and testing methods).
