Softtek Response to Article Published by UOL on June 7th, 2020 and Subsequent Reaction on Social Media

SÃO PAULO – June 9, 2020

Softtek strongly condemns any act of prejudice related to race, gender, sexual or political preferences.

We respect and support the peaceful protests against racism, police brutality and fascism that are taking place globally. We understand they reflect society's inalienable and universal need to create a more just and inclusive world.

On Sunday, June 7th, Softtek was surprised to be referenced in the article "Corinthians fan loses job after protest and talks about persecution” (Torcedor do Corinthians loses emprego após protesto e fala em perseguição) published by Brazilian online media outlet UOL.  With regards to the content, the company clarifies the following:

  • The article cites a former Softtek supplier, Emerson Vitalino, who states that his contract was terminated due to “political persecution.” For this reason Softtek engaged its Ethics Committee, to carry out an investigation, which has determined the following:

  • Between May 1st and May 31st, 2020, Softtek retained the services of a company constituted in 2005, owned by Mr. Emerson Vitalino.

  • On June 1st, Softtek offered Mr. Vitalino the continuity of the contract based on deliverables, a common model in the technology services sector. As this option did not interest Mr. Vitalino, the contract was terminated.
  • Softtek’s Ethics Committee found no irregularities in the change of the terms of the contract between both organizations and is currently investigating any possible violation of its Code of Ethics.

We are the product of an entrepreneurial effort. We offer opportunities promoting a culture of openness and respect. Our history, our people and our policies are the best evidence of our professionalism and diversity.
