Softtek to Release Cutting-Edge Report on Nearshore Industry, Produced by HfS Research

Report finds quality, proximity and cultural alignment will continue to drive growth of the Latin American outsourcing industry

NEW YORK – March 15, 2011 – Softtek, a provider of process-driven IT services that increase the business value of Fortune 1000 organizations’ application portfolios, today announced that it has sponsored a report on the nearshore industry written and produced by HfS Research, the leading research analyst firm covering global outsourcing and shared services strategies.

The report, “How Latin America Powers Global IT Delivery,” is a close examination of the emergence of nearshore providers and how they use cultural and process-oriented capabilities to compete with India-centric outsourcing. As global delivery rises, businesses are looking to form closer relationships with Latin American vendors who provide higher quality services with a closer proximity. The report will be announced at the SIG Global Sourcing Summit and made public and accessible at http://nearshore.com.

Softtek, with over 15 years of experience in the space, coined the nearshore concept that led to the evolution of the nearshore industry. Softtek continues to be one of Latin America’s largest IT services firms working with some of the world’s leading companies, including 17 of the Fortune 50 companies. Investing in the distribution rights of the report, Softtek aims to raise visibility of a crucial study meant to educate the market about the shift from basic nearshoring to a more mature and integrated global delivery model.

“The HfS report outlines the ways in which Latin American outsourcers must continue to focus on process-driven services and cultural alignment, as the industry grows,” said Beni Lopez, Chief Globalization Officer at Softtek. “We envisioned these key findings 15 years ago when we pioneered nearshore and started client relationships with the U.S. From the start, we understood the valuable partnership and high-quality services that nearshore providers could offer the world's leading companies. This report, which illustrates Latin America’s three routes to value: cost, risk reduction and support for companies entering the region, will provide essential insight to an industry, of which we are a founding advocate.”

“While the nearshore industry is young compared to offshore counterparts, it has grown at an impressive rate, and the report highlights how LatAm can service a variety of demands for its clients because of its location and familiarity,” said Phil Fersht, Chief Executive Officer and Research Director at HfS Research. “We give Softtek credit for sponsoring the distribution of this report, which fills a gap in the research of the global outsourcing industry. Throughout the research process, we were able to source valuable market references, including industry and country entities, as well as references for buyers and providers. We were able to study the complexities of the nearshore industry, and discuss our new understanding of how this market is projected to succeed.”
